Easter Egg Hunt

Ryan's class came to our house today for an Easter Egg Hunt. We had the perfect day! Sunshine and happy smiles everywhere!

We also celebrated Ryan's birthday today with his class. His birthday is Saturday and we are having another party with just family.

Blowing out his candles

Isn't this cake fantastic!?! Ms. Emily, a teacher at Ryan's school, made it for us.

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

We ate yummy doughnuts

And Ryan acted silly.

Then Will had his first baseball game

And Ryan went to a birthday party at the bowling alley where he thought his bowling shoes were really dancing shoes. It was a good day.

Trying out my new camera!

My super amazing Dad surprised me yesterday with a new camera. A Nikon D3000. I am over-the-moon excited! Since I just got it yesterday, I still have no idea what I am doing with a camera this fancy. But here are 2 I snapped today of Ryan. I love how big and bright his eyes look. Stay tuned- hopefully I will be posting more pictures soon!!

Cookies and Reading

Every Friday at Will's school is DEAR (Drop Everything and Read!) reading. In Will's class it is called Mystery Reader Day because the students don't know who is coming to read to them until they walk through the door. Most of the time it is a parent volunteer. This usually involves reading a few books and maybe a snack or craft.

The last time I read was in October, so I read some books on bats and moons and made bat and moon cookies.

This time my theme is St. Patrick's Day. I found two cute books: The Luckiest St. Patrick's Day Ever and Lucky Tucker.

I made shamrock cookies for our snack and Will is holding the rainbow streamer craft we are making.
I am so excited! I love their sweet little class. I am nearly knocked over and tackled with hugs every time I walk through the door to their classroom. They are a special group of kids. I know their innocence and excitement about parents being at school will not last forever, so I really am trying to treasure it right now.

Roller Skating

Will was invited to a birthday party at the Skate Center this past Saturday. It was his good buddy John Burton's birthday. This was Will's first time roller skating, but I was so proud of him. He would fall, laugh, then get right back up and do it again!
I got skates for myself and was surprised how it all came back to me, just like riding a bike. And oh how the skate center memories came back to me! The music was exactly the same...I promise! They were still playing Michael Jackson circa 1985. The only new song they played was BoomBoomPow! And that was because some kid requested it. It was good to know some things never change. The skates looked the same, it smelled the same like icees and concession stand popcorn. The lights, the cheesy carpet, the limbo, and the bad pizza. It was like stepping back into 1986. We had a great time and Will has already asked when we can go back. It's comforting.
