The Kindergarten half-day is called "bear camp," because the bear is their elementary school mascot. So, you are supposed to bring a bear from home to school with you. Here is Will, putting on a brave face, before getting into the car Monday morning. (Every Kindergartener has the same bag, too. So cute!) He was a little nervous.
Here is Will yesterday afternoon after returning from bear camp! A much happier little boy. Everyone got a mini teddy bear and a balloon attached. He was very excited to talk about his day and declared "it was very fun!" His favorite part was going on a "bear hunt" (a tour of the school.)
Here is Ryan in his new classroom at Otter Creek. He is in the 3 year old M,W,F class with Ms. Dele.
This is Will's new friend, Noah, who goes to church with us and is also going to be in K with Will (but not in the same class.) And, they also live in our neighborhood! Noah came over to play today and all 3 boys had so much fun. Here they are eating a snack.

It is wonderful that Will's friend Noah lives nearby, goes to the same school, and even goes to the same church with you! Friendships like that are fantastic. The teddy bear hunt sounds like a great way to give the kids a tour. Very neat. I can't believe how big Ryan is in the pictures! I loved seeing the school pics of both boys. I truly hope it's a great year for you all.
The boys are getting so big! Where is Will going to school? Is it a private school? I love the idea of a bear hunt too! Madison still has this week and next before her preschool starts. She is so ready! She is getting a lot of one on one time with Matt while I am attending workshops and getting my room ready. I hope you and the boys have a great school year. It is hard watching the kids get bigger each year. Taylor will be going to middle school in a couple of yrs and Madison off to Kindergarten next year :(
Hey Holly- no, Will is not at a private school this year. He is going to our neighborhood public elementary school. It is literally a couple of streets over from our house. It is a great school, just a hard adjustment to a new, bigger school where he doesn't know many kids. I know it will be great once we get past the transition.
That is so fantastic that you are teaching at Concord Methodist!! I remember hearing great things about that preschool. Especially since Madison can go there with you for free! You can't beat free! Sounds like the same great job Cindy has this year! I went to the Concord Methodist consignment sales a couple of times while living in Knoxville and always found some great things. Hope you guys all have a great year!!
Your boys are just so cute!!! Love those smiles...glad the first day was a success for everyone! What will you do with your new free time?
