JW's Birthday Gift
John Will's birthday was Sunday the 20th. We have a really great yard at our new house with wonderful, old trees. I knew exactly what to get him for his birthday and this is the exact picture I had in mind when I purchased the hammock.
I love hammocks! I hope our next house has trees close enough to ut one up (if not I will be getting one of those hammock stands). I love to picture of John w/ the boys....hope he had a great birthday :)
Do tell where you found it...I'm contemplating getting my dad a new one for his birthday next month. You should see it...it is so sad. He's actually repaired it with other rope and still uses it!!! Seriously, I'm interested in where you found it.
Cindy- in researching hammocks, I found you can spend anywhere from about $20 - $175. I opted for the cheapest version!!! I found this one at Academy Sports. It is kind of like a Dicks Sporting goods. Do ya'll have Academy in Knoxville? I can't remember....Anyway- I bet you could find one at Gander Mountain. The guy at Academy told me to get the rope kind, not the quilted cloth kind b/c they hold up better when they get wet. okay, now that I have written a dissertation on hammocks- hope that helps!
It does! We don't have Academy that I know of, but someone else recommended Dicks S.G., too. I probably won't spend a lot either, seeing as my dad will probably want to still use his old ratty 30-year-old one. He's one who never throws anything away until it's absolutely unusable, and even then you never know when you might find it in the garage! ;)
Happy birthday, JW. I had forgotten Sunday was your special day. Perhaps you'll get a belated birthday call in the near future. And perhaps I'll eat a basket of chicken wings and think of you.
I, too, love hammocks. I bought one in Mexico last year and lie it regularly. Nice choice, Ginger.
Happy Belated Birthday, John Will! I hope it was a good one. Look like it was! Hammocks are great...and so are nice old trees to hang them from. We have a nice hammock from Mexico, but no trees to hang it from. We hope to figure out a way to hang it in the not-so-distant future. Enjoy yours!

April- check on getting a stand for your hammock. During my extensive hammock research, I found those stands were very popular!
Large trees make a backyard so much fun! I'm glad the hammock was a bit hit! I loved the pic of your guys...very sweet.
